When
to Cruise? |
Cruises go north in April and May and return south in August and September. Consequently you will be travelling from warm to cooler weather in the Spring and the reverse at the end of Summer.

Western Europe's historic cities to the glamourous resorts, and idyllic islands of the Mediterranean. Cruise ships sailing Northern Europe during the summer months will often reposition to the Mediterranean in September and return the following May. Leaving from the main UK ports, cruises will follow the coast of Western Europe, through the Straits of Gibraltar and into the Mediterranean. Once in the Med a variety of itineraries may be offered in the Western or Eastern Caribbean.

Western Europe
Most cruises will follow the coast line of Western Europe calling at French or Spanish ports on the Bay of Biscay. Travelling southward to Lisbon in Portugal cruises may also call at Cadiz (for Seville) on the Atlantic coast of southern Spain before passing through the Straits of Gibraltar.

Western Mediterranean
The Western Mediterranean has the beaches of the rivieras, popular island resorts and cosmopolitan cities. Ports on the Spanish coast include Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga (for Granada). Majorca and the Balearics are a popular ports of call and both Corsica and Sardinia have lots to offer. The French Riviera can be explored from Nice or Monte Carlo and the Italian west coast offers Livorno (for Florence), Civitavecchia (for Rome) and Naples.

Eastern Mediterranean
The Eastern Mediterranean offers the Aegean Sea full of islands to explore surrounded by ancient sites and cities. Cruise from Venice or Athens and exotic Istanbul and visit ancient sites like Ephesus in Turkey, Olympia in Greece or Knossos on Crete. The Croation coast , Dubrovnik and Corfu are now regular ports of call in the Adriatic Sea while the most popular Greek islands for cruises are Mykonos, Rhodes and Santorini.
